THE EXPERIENCE
1)Before Interview
-The online application has opened after the SPM result on 11 March 2010
-The closing date for application is 21 March 2010 (Jumaat) more info
-The applicants have to register their SAM ID number first before they can started submitting the application
-The problem here is we cannot update the form if we have submitted it.. so my advice here is to fill the form as details as u can and be careful.
-For your information, at first I applied for Mechanical Engineering (less course YTN sends the scholar) and my father's IC number is incorrect... then i just email to infoytn@tnb.com.my and tell them about the problem. Below is the respond from YTN :-
"Mohon agar mengisi semula permohonan online dengan menggunakan SAMID yang baru dan pastikan
Semua data yang di key in adalah tepat."
-After receiving a positive reply from YTN, I registered again the SAM ID and I applied for Electrical (Power) Engineering (the most scholar YTN need) and fix the
IC number
-The result of YTN OVS scholarship 2010 that stated in the website was on 26 March 2010, so I just checked on the website on 25 March 2010 at 11 pm. I was amazed that the result was announce nearly at 12 am, it is the more efficient than JPA which was announced the result on 29 March 2010 at 12 pm
-I also received a sms form YTN about the result on 26 March 2010 at 4 pm
-I have to make a carrier test
What should I prepare for the YTN interview
-just surf and read all about TNB
-prepare your mental (try to think in matured and professional manner) and physical (have a sufficient rest)
-read the current news and also practice on how to debate
-prepared all the documents that are needed
-buy a professional attire (if u don't have yet)
-print your resume or CV
2)During Interview
-I came at around 7.45 am on 31 March 2010 at Yayasan Tenaga Nasional, Uniten
-the beauty lady ask me to register my name and I was placed in the first group which is group 23 and my number is 23 C (the earlier you register, the faster you will be interview)
-after registration, one of the YTN officer called up my name to check all the documents, everything was quite OK but I don't bring the photocopy of all my certificates as it was not stated on the check list. Then, he took all the original certificates and gave me back 5 minutes later (quite nervous actually)
-while waiting others to come En. Madrus give us the customer feedback survey
-at 8.00 am all of the applicants were asked to enter a room which was the briefing process will be held
-I managed to make friends with my group members and their name are : Ahmad Zharif, Tan Shun Herng, Ramiah, Mohd Azwan and Muhd Naem.
-En Madrus entered in and started briefing. Below is the content of the briefing:-

UK : 2 years A-Level (KYUEM) + 4 years degree
Australia & New Zealand : 1 1/1 years Ausmat (Intec MARA) + 4 years degree
Canada : 1 year Cimp (Sunway) + 4 years degree
Offers
-full scholarship until degree
-bonding for 7 years with Tenaga Nasional Berhad
Result
-early of May 2010
-those who get the offer will be called
-preparation start on Jun 2010
-there will be an orientation day for the scholar of YTN for 3 days at Genting Highland (if I not mistaken)
Other Info
-this year YTN want only 30 +/- scholar
-the most quote is given to electrical (power) engineering, follow with mechanical engineering, civil engineering and the least one is accountancy
-most of the electrical (power) engineering will be sent to UK
-while waiting for the interview session, En Madrus told us to read the magazine about TNB and if you feel thirsty you can just take the mineral bottle that has been provided by YTN (free) and some sweets to make the applicants calm
-just a few minutes form the interview session, I asked En Madrus who are the interviewer? and he said that En Azman Zakaria (Pengarah Yayasan Tenaga Nasional) and his secretaries will interview us
-later on, one of the YTN officer called the first group
Interview Session
-we knocked the door first before entering and wait to be seated
-before I being seated I want to give my RESUME to En Azman but he said "after this"
-in the interview room there is about 5 person which was En Azman Zakaria (Pengarah YTN), 3 ladies officers (2 of them wrote something and the other one was a time keeper) and a officer (photographer and also cameraman)
-En Azman Zakaria greet us and explain again about the interview session :-
1.Introduce self : name, education background, co curricular activities and what scholarship did we applied (2 minutes)
2.Talk about Tenaga Nasional Berhad (2 minutes)
3.Debate (4 minutes : 2 minutes prepare and 2 minutes deliver points)
Questions and Answers
Q: Please tell me about yourself? and what scholarship did you applied?
A: (greeting) My name is ....... I'm from .... I was formerly form.... At school I was given an opportunity as ..... (just said about the co curricular activities and achievement).... I love astronomy and at weekend I go to Pantai Mek Mas for star gazing.. (En. Azman laugh and ask "Betul ke nie?") . Yes, but not with my own telescope... I just borrow it from ....
-one of the lady asked me "kenapa tak jadi ustaz?". I said to them that I want to be a professional ustaz... (all of the interview laugh especially En Azman)
A: I applied many scholarship because we didn't know the future... (En Azman said that we just want to know)... I applied ...... (talked about the scholarship and courses that I have applied and I forgot to tell about YTM and Petronas)
-and En Azman asked me again, "Which school were you from?", I answered it again and the lady answered it for me
Q: What you know about Tenaga Nasional Berhad
A: Thank you for asking that question... What I want to say has been said by my friends... (I'm the forth person)... (En Azman laugh again) but I will tell as much as I could.... TNB is under the ministry of ...... (just said about the goverment and YB Peter Chin) ... I would like to tell about the history of TNB... (I just said what I have read on the website)...
-My speech was stopped by En Azman and he said that "I think you have already know about TNB" (he said with laugh)
-before we started debating, we were given a title "Technology Makes Human Lazy" and I was one of the proposer
-we were given a piece of paper to jot down the points in 2 minutes
-we just wrote, wrote and wrote all the points that came out from our mind and En Azman asked the time keeper lady about the time... but the lady did not record the time then En Azman said time's up (he said that you have be given an extra minute in happy mode)
-after that we started to debate and I was the third person
A: I respect your opinion Tan (my member group), however before we start debating, we should know what is the technology is all about... (said about the technology)...
-my first point was the health of human will drop : lazy to exercise (talk about the vehicle)
-the second point was human will have no responsibility : depends to technology (talk about toilet)
-the bell rung (I haven't complete my speech)... En Azman with smile said "time's up"
-after Naem (the last candidate of my group) has finish his speech, En Azman told us that the interview has finished and he asked us who get the offer of YTN local. Only I applied both YTN (OVS / Local)
-then En Azaman asked me again about my co curricular activities. I just answer it again (I think En Azman did not wrote down what I said)
-we were pleased to make our move but, before leaving the room I gave my resume to En Azman and shakes hand with him and all my members followed
-one of the lady asked my "Balik Kelantan ke lepas nie?" I just answered it in Malay. then I asked her "Akak nie orang Kelantan ker?", she replied "tak"
After Interview Session
-we went back to the briefing room to give some support to others applicant and we took some mineral bottle
-outside the building YTN, I managed to take some picture of Zharif and Tan
-three of us went to Uniten's restaurant to eat something
-then my cousin picked me up and we went to USJ 17
-I just send a "Thank You" email and letter on 1 April (not April fool)
*I hope this post will give a great picture to all applicants of YTN in future and what the most important thing is I make they laugh...
